پردیس · فِرْدَوْس — paradise; garden
Persian → ArabicProbablenoun · Belief · common
This one went the other way: from Persian into Arabic.
Arabic
فِرْدَوْس
firdaws/firdaws/
In Arabic
paradise; garden
Persian
پردیس
pardis/pærdis/
In Persian
paradise; garden
Note. Old Iranian pairidaēza 'walled garden' is the source, but it probably reached Arabic through Aramaic or Greek rather than directly. Persian today uses pardis for 'campus' and also says ferdows.
Spelling. Arabic writes p as f (pardis → firdaws).
